The Curú Wildlife Tour is a súper chiva experience (as we say in Costa Rica, something really cool)! It's perfect for anyone who loves animals and wants to learn more about the incredible nature of this region. Curú is an incredibly biodiverse place, where you can spot everything from monkeys and other mammals to reptiles, amphibians, and even crocodiles.
This part of Costa Rica is also known for its amazing variety of birds, including both resident species and migratory birds passing through the region on their journeys between the north and south of the continent. For anyone interested in birdwatching, it's an especially fascinating place.
What makes this tour so enjoyable is that, in just a few hours, you can take a pleasant, relatively easy walk through the tropical forest and have the opportunity to observe a wide variety of animals in their natural habitat. The naturalist guides also add so much to the experience finding the animals, sharing their knowledge of the local wildlife, plants, and ecosystem.
My Recommendation: If you're hoping to see wildlife during your visit to Santa Teresa, this is one of the tours I recommend the most. It's a great activity for families, a chance to enjoy nature, and an opportunity to learn about Costa Rica's incredible biodiversity.
A guided nature walk in the Curú Wildlife Refuge, a protected forest on the Gulf of Nicoya side of the peninsula.
At Curú, a local naturalist guide leads a morning walk of about 2.5 hours through the forest, looking for wildlife along the way.
Animals often seen include howler and white-faced capuchin monkeys, white-tailed deer, coatis, agoutis and scarlet macaws.
